Searching for a Florida trip that doesn’t involve the tourist-filled cities of Orlando or Miami? Look no further than the vibrant city of Tampa for an unforgettable weekend getaway! As a fellow Floridian in her late twenties, I’m excited to share my firsthand experiences and recommendations. While I always recommend a longer stay, you’ll still be able to explore everything Tampa has to offer, all within a quick two days.

Day 1: Embracing the Sun in the Sunshine State
Morning Bliss at Bayshore Boulevard
If you’re not a huge morning person (like myself), I highly recommend a slower start to your day at the iconic Bayshore Boulevard, a breathtaking waterfront promenade that holds the title for the world’s longest continuous sidewalk. Despite having only a fast two days of your Tampa trip, nothing is better than a stroll here with a nice smoothie or coffee in hand! Your morning walk will be filled with the gentle sea breeze and the panoramic views of Tampa Bay. Remember to stay alert as you’ll be sure to run into joggers, bikers, and cars flying by.
Indulge in a Brunch Delight at Oxford Exchange
Now the fun stuff: brunch! Satisfy your appetite at Oxford Exchange, a haven where a charming bookstore meets an inviting café. Not only is the food great, the decor and ambience is unlike anything else in Tampa. Each room is filled with bright light, incredible art, and quiet nooks, perfect for quick photo-ops. You’ll be able to relish in a delectable brunch with options ranging from avocado toast and an artisanal latte to heartier breakfast classics like eggs Benedict or French toast!
Experience Artistic Reverie at The Dali Museum
Now this next spot may or may not be up your alley, depending on your thoughts on art. Personally, I’m not the biggest museum fan but this one has a special place in my heart! After a quick trip across the bridge to St. Petersburg, you’ll be able to dive into the realm of surrealism at The Dali Museum. You’ll feel like you stepped into a totally different place when you immerse yourself in Salvador Dali’s imaginative creations. Depending on how long you spend here, you’re a quick Uber or about a 15-20 minute walk to all the St. Pete shops, restaurants and newly-renovated pier!
Witness Sunset Serenity at an Iconic Florida Beach
As the day mellows into evening, make your way to the beach – after all, you are in Florida! Whether you take the trip to Clearwater Beach or stay in St. Pete, get ready sink your toes into the soft sands and bask in the breathtaking sunset views. The serene atmosphere and picturesque landscape will create a memory you’ll never forget. That is, if it doesn’t rain – be sure to check the weather beforehand!
Day 2: Unveiling Hidden Gems During Your Tampa Trip
Immerse Yourself in Ybor City’s Culture
It’s Day 2 of our two day Tampa trip and we have no signs of stopping! After a quick breakfast or morning coffee, it’s time to embark on a cultural journey through Ybor City, a historic neighborhood characterized by cobblestone streets and vibrant murals. Experience the rich blend of Cuban and Spanish influences as you explore local shops and savor the authentic flavors of empanadas at Carmine’s. Personally, I recommend carving out time to eat at the Columbia Restaurant. Open since 1905 and Florida’s Oldest Restaurant, you’ll have a lunch to remember! No, seriously, I crave the 1905 salad way too often for my own good.
Experience Urban Adventure on the Tampa Riverwalk
Once you’ve stepped away from the charm of Ybor City, head back to the city feel at the Tampa Riverwalk, an urban haven adorned with modern architecture and scenic vistas. Take a stroll, rent a bike, or hop on a scooter. Whether you want to be quick or save your time, you’ll have plenty of spots to eat, drink, shop, or take pictures along the Riverwalk!
Test Your Luck on Current Events and Attractions
Being a bigger city, there is always something new going on in Tampa (most being very affordable)! Save time to experience a show, musical, or neighborhood event before or after dinner. Even when living in Tampa, I always checked out what was going on in Tampa. My favorite site to use is Visit Tampa Bay, their events calendar has it all.
Parting Wisdom: Making the Most of Your Two Day Tampa Trip
As your time in Tampa comes to a close, I highly encourage you to reflect on the incredible memories you made on your trip in such a quick two days! From the artistic wonders of The Dali Museum to the vibrant streets of Ybor City, I hope this city was able to show it’s magic to you on your trip. Don’t forget to set flight alerts on Hopper so you can book at the best price!
